That’s our running total donated at the Entercom Cares event yesterday….incredible!

The outpouring of support from our corporate partners and community has been amazing! Entercom Communications sent their teams of staff and on-air personalities to both Panera locations (at Glendale Mall and Southport Road) to talk up the need and draw their listeners out to donate. The steady stream of generosity was so touching. One man took the jacket off his back and gave it to us because “these people have nothing and someone needs it more [than him]“. We were speechless!

Thanks, of course, to Entercom Communications – WZPL 99.5fm, WXNT 1430am and The Track 107.9fm – for your air time and on-line support. Thanks to Panera Bread for hosting us. And thanks to Two Men and a Truck for coming out to collect donations in your trucks - Drew and Brian, you’re great!

Don’t worry if you didn’t get a chance to stop by or donate on-line. The Entercom Cares donation drive will continue through Friday. You can click here to donate to flood relief. Also, Fifth-Third Banks are donation sites for flood relief as well. So if you find yourself banking in the next few days, drop off a few bucks for those in need. Your gift will be used 100% to serve those affected by the floods across Indiana.

Thanks for your support in our efforts to continue doing the most good for those in need right here in Indiana.

Two Men, 3 Stations, Some Bread and a City

I had the pleasure of spending the morning down at the Southport Road Panera location this morning with some of the folks from Entercom Communications. Wilie B and The Hammer have been great plugging away at letting the listeners on each of their stations know about the devestation facing families in our surrounding counties. The need is great, but your hearts are big.

The generosity is just so touching that people will pull up to the tent in the pouring rain and dig deep to help our fellow Hoosiers in need. Let’s face it, the economy isn’t great, but that isn’t preventing our neighbors from taking a break from their lives of shuttling kids and meeting with clients to give a little to those who are in such a time of need.

Continued thanks to our partnering stations on this event – WZPL 99.5fm, WXNT 1430am, and The Track 107.9fm – for sending out the call for help. Of course, thanks to Panera for hosting us as a donation site and for Two Men and a Truck for standing by to collect your bottled water and Gatorade donations.

I just heard that the kettle total so far stands at a little over $1,400. Now, last I heard the on-line (click here to donate) and call-in donations were up over $3,200, but that was over an hour ago. So, spread the word to tune in and give big!

How can you help flooding victims?

June 9, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

paneraStop by Panera Bread (at Glendale Mall or on Southport Road in front of Meijer) any time tomorrow (Tuesday) between 7am – 6pm and make a donation at The Salvation Army kettle. We’ll be out there with some of the folks from the Entercom Communications family – WZPL 99.5fm, WXNT NewsTalk 1430am or The Track 107.9fm.

We’ll also be accepting bottled water and Gatorade donations as well. Due to the heat and lack of accessible drinking water due to boil orders, the emergency first responders, National Guard and those displaced by the flooding are in need of beverages as they try to clean up and/or recover their belongings. You can help keep them hydrated with your donation.

Donations for this event will continue on-line through Friday. If you can’t make it out to one of these locations, you can donate on-line here or you can contact Kristen at 224-1019 to donate water and Gatorade. And as always, 100% of the funds and items donated will go directly to help those in need during this emergency.

So, come on out. I’ll be at the Panera at Southport between 7-10am…I’d love to me you!

Pizza = love

Wanted to send a big thank you out to Gabe, Chuck and all the great guys and gals at Hot Box Pizza here in Indy. Not only did they answer the call for help, but they added breadsticks – and if you’ve had their breadsticks, you can appreciate how great that is!

Our emergency disaster team has been providing care and support for those displaced by the recent storms and flooding as well as for those responding to the call for help. Today, we had the priviledge of providing lunch and dinner for the men and women over at the state emergency operations center at the government building. These folks are manning the phones and dispatching services all over the state, so they deserved some tlc.

The call went out for a corporate partner to help us provide dinner and Hot Box answered. So, thanks Hot Box! And for some seriously good slice, click here.

No strangers to damage

This past weekend once again brought severe weather and storm damage to Indiana. While many neighborhoods experienced flash flooding that receeded over the course of the day, others further south didn’t fare so well.

As residents were evacuated in Shelby and Morgan counties, The Salvation Army was there with canteens and volunteers to offer water, snacks and clean-up kits. (to see photos, click here) Those serving tell stories of residents whose properties were several feet under water with no notice at all. The National Guard assisted those in the hardest hit areas help via boats.

We need your help to help those in need. If you’d like to donate to our emergency relief efforts, click here. Donations made on this site will be 100% earmarked for storm victims. Several organizations are coodinating efforts for you to get involved. Check back this afternoon for more info on ways you can make a difference in the lives of those displaced due to flooding.
