Major Amick and Board Chair, Diane Nichols, welcomed Tom Zupancic to the Indiana Division Advisory Board. With a strong record of professional excellence and community involvement, Zupancic (Senior VP of Sales and Marketing for the Indianapolis Colts) is a natural fit to serve in such a capacity.
He joined the Colts organization in 1984 and served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach until 1999. Zupancic is an active ambassador for the Colts and serves on the boards of the Children’s Bureau, CYO Board, Speedway Exchange Club, Leukemia Society, 21st Century Charter School, Fountain Square Charter School, The GEO Foundation, and the Board of Trustees for the University of Indianapolis.

The local advisory board system was established in 1920 to enlist local professionals and civic leaders to provide support to the local unit of The Salvation Army. The Board is charged with the responsibility of advising and assisting The Salvation Army in all its activities in the Indianapolis community.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tom Zupancic as our newest member. He brings a wealth of experience to the board,” said Diane Nichols of Perkins Nichols Media and Chairperson of The Salvation Army Advisory Board.
Nelson, Offerman join Advisory Board
On Wednesday, The Salvation Army inducted two community leaders to serve on our Advisory Board – Bethany Nelson (Response Christian Church) and Ed Offerman (Indiana Family and Social Services Administration). These talented and accomplished individuals have been selected by the nominating committee for their character, leadership experience, and service to the community.
Bethany Nelson – Bethany has a heart of a servant. She is currently serving as Outreach Developer for Response Christian Church. From 1999 to 2003 Bethany organized and operated children’s activities as director of Children’s Ministry. One of her latest projects has been establishing a community center. She is also an active volunteer at The Salvation Army’s Women’s and Children’s Shelter. Bethany hopes to contribute as someone who works directly with women and children and who is a believer in second chances and rehabilitation. Her educational background is in early childhood development and behavioral studies.
Ed Offerman – Ed has a long history in leadership. Before joining the Indiana FSSA, he was Director of DCMA Raytheon Technical Services Company. As a retiree from the military, Offerman is eager to serve in domestic and international disaster services. Ed’s experience with logistics and contract compliance is sure to be an asset to the Emergency Disaster Services team.
The Salvation Army’s Advisory Board was founded in January 1920 with 41 members, to support and advise the Indiana Division’s officers and staff.

Ed Offerman and Bethany Nelson were added as new members of The Salvation Army's Advisory Board April 14, 2010.
The Salvation Army’s motto is “doing the most good.” This motto is carried out in a number of ways, but one way in which the community is involved is through The Salvation Army Advisory Board.
Two new members have been recruited to join the board, Outreach Developer for Response Christian Church Bethany Nelson and Division Contract Manager of Indiana Family and Social Services Administration Ed Offerman. Nelson and Offerman were both inducted into the Advisory Board April 14, 2010.
These talented and accomplished individuals have been selected by the nominating committee for several reasons. Nelson has experience serving people. From 1999 to 2003 she organized and operated children’s activities as director of Children’s Ministry. Now with the Response Christian Church, Nelson has helped set up a community center.
Major Richard Amick welcomed the new members to the Advisory Board.
“Being a fresh mind of what works with women and children in this society,” is how Nelson says she will contribute to the Advisory Board. Nelson is a believer in second chances and rehabilitation. Her educational background is in early childhood development and behavioral studies.
“We know you’ll be eyes and ears for us,” Divisional Commander Richard Amick said to Nelson as she was introduced as a new member.
Offerman has a long history in leadership. Before he landed his current position, he was Director of DCMA Raytheon Technical Services Company and then became Deputy Director of Defense Contract Management Agency.
As a retiree from the military, Offerman feels that his services could best be used in both domestic and international emergency disaster services. He has experience working with logistics and contract compliance. In his introduction Offerman was quoted saying, “It’s not about me, it’s about getting done what needs to be done.”
These professionals in the community were selected to advice and assist The Salvation Army’s ability to serve. The Advisory Board, with 41 members, began January 1920 as a supporter of The Salvation Army’s services.
