Calling all Restaurants/Caterers

June 20, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Starting tomorrow, Salvation Army Canteens will serve daily meals (for at least a week) to approximately 200 people in Martinsville and Mooresville.

Here’s where you come into the equation. Feeding 200 individuals is a huge task and will once again stretch The Salvation Army’s resources. This donation is a hands-on way to reach out to our fellow Hoosiers, to offer these men, women and children a hot meal while they’re trying to recover from this devestation. If you represent a restaurant or are a caterer who can help provide meals to these families, give me a call at 224-1019.

Our role is to feed these families 2-3 meals per day as they are being housed in the following local hotels:

Lost Inn – 100 Hopkins Trail E. Mooresville, IN 46158 (3 meals)

Holiday Inn Express – 2233 Burton Lane Martinsville, IN 46151 (lunch & dinner)

Super 8 – 55 Bills Blvd. Martinsville, IN 46151 (3 meals)

Thanks to all of you who continue to call and get involved. Your participation has been crucial to our response. Just to give you an update on what we’re doing with your support, The Salvation Army has assisted storm victims in Marion, Shelby, Morgan, Rush, Bartholomew, Johnson, Owen, Green, Clay, Vigo, and Brown Counties. To date, more than 10,500 meals have been served and over 18,000 bottles of water and Gatorade have been distributed. More than 2,300 clean up kits have also been distributed.

The Salvation Army has also provided Extended Assistance to storm victims who have applied for Federal Assistance through FEMA. Those receiving Extended Assistance are given vouchers and/or gift cards to purchase needed household items at local stores. To date, more than 766 individuals and 256 families have received Extended Assistance through The Salvation Army.
