Happy campers…thanks to you!

Summer is drawing to a close, but Hidden Falls Camp is in full swing this week with music camp. Your donations, especially those of you who supported our kids programs on the Saturday of Radiothon, make it possible for hundreds of Indiana’s youth to attend our camp near Bedford, IN. Our youth directors, Captains Nick and Jody Montgomery and their right hand gal, Deena Best, have created a great, character-building environment for these kids to get away from the pavement and into the great outdoors. And the best part is that the camp is available to all through our community centers, our Corps.

Can’t wait to hear more from camp? Stay tuned for some stories of kids whose lives have been changed through your generosity!

Go, Butler!

We’re thrilled to wish the Butler Bulldogs all the best in tonight’s 2010 NCAA championship game. Butler University partnered with us this Christmas donating several items for a fan pack during our 2009 WIBC Radiothon – bet that winner is wearing/displaying that prize with pride! We’ll be watching tonight. Go Bulldogs!

15th annual WIBC Radiothon ends with $255,146!

What a finish!

Thanks so much to all of our hourly and in-kind sponsors – to Emmis Communications and the amazing men and women who produced the -athon, the programmers, the personalities, just everyone who’s made it easy to call Emmis’ lobby home for the past 55 hours. We would not be able to do what we’ve done without their dedication and enthusiasm.

And here are the teary thanks, so buckle up – Thanks to our Radiothon Chair, Quinn Buckner and the Indiana Pacers. You set the tone for giving before the event went on the air! Thanks to Walmart for that incredible demonstration of support! Not only did your $100,000 bump that total, but it went a LONG way in encouraging our listeners to step up and make the calls. Thanks to our Phone Bank sponsor, ValPak and REACH magazine for your generosity and the manpower to keep those calls a’comin. And we can’t forget the folks at Markey’s Rental and Staging for the donation of our big screens – the tote boards are so vital in communicating with our phone bank and with the studio.

Celebrating 15 years with Emmis

This morning, we were priviledged to honor our long-time partners at Emmis Communications as we surprised Jeff Smulyan with a little special attention. We invited our Advisory Board Radiothon Chair, Don Steel, on the air to present an award to Mr. Smulyan and surprised him with a similar token of gratitude. You see, Don’s been here with us for Radiothon at Emmis all 15 years as well!

So, on behalf of the thousands of men, women and children whose lives have been changed through the generosity of others during Radiothon, thanks, Jeff and Don!
