What does The Salvation Army do?

We serve our community through social services across the world, and right here in Indianapolis.

 In 2009, through the support of our partners, The Salvation Army…

    - helped 783 families with food, housing & utilities through programs for the newly unemployed

    – served 72,000 people by providing shelter and care

    – provided 192,937 meals

    – gave winter coats to more than 5,000 kids through Coats for Kids

    - presented 10,000 Christmas gifts to families in need through our annual Toy Shop

    – assisted 2,000 people struggling with substance abuse

    – sent 806 at-risk youth to summer camp

    – shipped 6,957 care packages to our troops

    - united 802 volunteers to give of themselves to help others
